RWE Dea Expects First Gas From UK's Topaz Field By November 2009

Published: 23-Oct-2009

RWE Dea UK Holdings Ltd (RWE Dea), a subsidiary of RWE Dea AG, expects North Sea Topaz gas field to reach Britain's Theddlethorpe terminal in early November 2009, Reuters reported. RWE Dea is seeking approval from ConocoPhillips, the operator of Theddlethorpe and Caister Murdoch System operator, to start gas production.

'This will happen in the beginning of November, the next 3-4 weeks,' Rene Pawel, managing director of RWE Dea UK, said. Initial gas output is expected to be 0.9 million cubic metres a day, he added.

RWE Dea is waiting for Theddlethorpe and Caister Murdoch System operator ConocoPhillips to give them the green light to start producing gas. 'We are ready, we're just waiting for them and we have no control over that,' Pawel added.

The Caister Murdoch System comprises the Murdoch platform, the Caister satellite platform, and the gas trunk line to Theddlethoppe, east England.

RWE Dea also intends to start gas production at Clipper South and Breagh North Sea gas fields, which are expected online by 2012 and 2013 respectively.

The Topaz gas field straddles Blocks 49/1a and 49/2a and field partners are

RWE Dea UK SNS Limited (57.5% and Operator), GDF Britain Limited (35%) and Faroe Petroleum (7.5%). The planned development will be a single well tieback to the Tullow operated Schooner field 15 kms to the north west and onwards through the CMS gas transportion system to the Theddlethorpe Gas Terminal.
