Ecopetrol Updates On Gibraltar 3 Well In Siriri Block, Colombia

Ecopetrol S.A. has concluded drilling of Gibraltar 3 well, situated in the Siriri block in the Northeastern region of Colombia. The well was drilled with the purpose of delimiting the field of gas and Gibraltar, in addition, to verify the existence of structures and deposits in deeper areas in the field. Initial tests revealed that Gibraltar 3 is a well producing gas and condensate in the Mirador formation of the higher scale which confirms the results obtained from the Gibraltar 1 and 2 wells.

Gibraltar 3 resulted in a test production of natural gas between 28 and 30 million cubic feet of gas per day (mpcd), with an opening hole (choke) of an inch, and 530 barrels per day (bpd) of condensate 54 degrees API.

However, in relation to the second objective, the well did not prove the presence of hydrocarbons in the Mirador and Barco formations scale of deep, located between 12 thousand and 16 thousand feet.

The results of Gibraltar 3, together with those already obtained in Gibraltar 1 and 2, ensuring the supply of gas in the volumes previously announced by the company (30 mpcd), opening the possibility to market additional volumes in the future.

To start production of gas from Gibraltar, the company signed a contract with the firm Gas Gibraltar joint venture to advance the design, construction, operation and maintenance of a treatment plant with capacity of 30 mpcd, which is estimated to begin operations late this year.

Likewise, for the marketing of this product is entered into a contract with Gas Natural ESP, a company that contracted with the company Transorient ESP construction of the pipeline that will transport gas from the field tried to Bucaramanga Gibraltar, where it connects with the national system gas transport.
