Ecopetrol, S.A. (Ecopetrol), a Colombia-based petroleum company, is planning to raise its output to over 600,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd) by 2011. Previous year, the company pumped an average 447,000 bopd. The increase in production will be feasible because of a raise in output from existing fields, in addition to acquisitions of producing properties, both local and international.
Ecopetrol's Chief Executive Officer, Javier Gutierrez, confirmed that the oil company -- which produced 458,000 boepd in the first quarter of 2009, up compared with 431,000 boepd in the corresponding period of 2008 -- will increase production levels to 531,000 boepd by the end of the 2009.
Ecopetrol plans to produce a daily output of one million bopd by 2015.
