ConocoPhillips To Start Expansion Work At Wood River Refinery In Illinois
Published: 22-Sep-2009
ConocoPhillips will shut down a crude distillation unit, hydrocracker and reformer at its 306,000 barrel-per-day (bpd) joint venture Wood River refinery in Illinois to begin an expansion work to ramp up the heavy Canadian crude oil amount which the refinery can process, Reuters reported. A 110,000 bpd crude distillation unit, a 41,000 bpd hydrocracker and a 38,000 bpd reformer will be closed in the expansion.
The expansion of the units is the first phase of a $1.9 billion project, which is aimed at increasing the amount of Canadian crude the refinery can process.
The refinery is a joint venture between ConocoPhillips and EnCana Corporation.
